{"id":143,"date":"2016-09-25T15:55:06","date_gmt":"2016-09-25T19:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/162.243.23.127:8081\/?p=143"},"modified":"2016-09-25T15:55:06","modified_gmt":"2016-09-25T19:55:06","slug":"the-5-things-i-do-in-the-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/?p=143","title":{"rendered":"The 5 Things I Do in the Morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are 5 things I do, in the morning, to start my day off on the right foot:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Make the bed. \u00a0It takes less than 5 minutes. \u00a0The great feeling of walking into an orderly room, at the end of the day, is well worth those 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Eat breakfast. \u00a0Those that know me know I do not skip meals. \u00a0I am hungry when I wake up and I know my body needs fuel for the day, so I eat! \u00a0I eat anything easy and fairly nutritional and in moderation &#8211; oatmeal, cereal, salad, chicken, eggs or pizza. \u00a0Obviously, I do not discriminate\u00a0against eating foods at particular times of the day.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Plan my day. \u00a0I sit down, look at my day and plan it out. \u00a0What time do I need to be where and what time will I need to leave to get to each place. \u00a0Knowing what I need to do allows me to be realistic about what I can get done each day and keeps me on track throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>4. Take a moment of quiet. \u00a0This is an important part of any day&#8230;..just being still. \u00a0I take a moment to read a devotional, pray and to be grateful. \u00a0This moment can really set the tone for your day.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Walk. \u00a0I try to walk for at least 30 minutes most mornings. \u00a0I have not conquered doing 7 days a week, but I do walk at least 5 days a week. \u00a0If it doesn&#8217;t get done in the morning, I make sure I get the walk in at some point of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, all this requires waking up at 5:15 am, but these morning habits have served me well, so it is well worth the early wake-up call!
