{"id":538,"date":"2017-03-12T19:24:27","date_gmt":"2017-03-12T23:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/?p=538"},"modified":"2017-03-12T19:24:27","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T23:24:27","slug":"why-my-refrigerator-stays-bare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/?p=538","title":{"rendered":"Why My Refrigerator Stays Bare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-559 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"136\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188-768x1023.jpg 768w, https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188-1153x1536.jpg 1153w, https:\/\/peggywbarnes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/IMG_0944-e1489359213188.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 136px) 100vw, 136px\" \/>Compared to most refrigerators I see, my refrigerator is pretty bare. \u00a0I have seen people who live alone with 2 refrigerators full of food. \u00a0I have seen families of 7 with refrigerators that are not stuffed. \u00a0No matter the number of people in your home, your refrigerator can still be stocked with what you need without excess.<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons I keep my refrigerator this way.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0We eat leftovers. \u00a0We eat a meal and if there are leftovers, we eat them for lunch, dinner or\u00a0sometimes breakfast! \u00a0We eat what we make.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t mindlessly buy a bunch of food. \u00a0I look ahead at the week and know when I&#8217;ll be cooking. \u00a0I look in the freezer, refrigerator, and pantry to see what food needs to be eaten and base the decisions about my meals on what I have.<\/li>\n<li>I don&#8217;t like &#8220;losing&#8221; things in my refrigerator. \u00a0If I have too much, I can&#8217;t see what I have, therefore I don&#8217;t end up using what I have.<\/li>\n<li>I hate wasting food. \u00a0Yep, I channel my grandmother when I save a little bit of food to eat the next day. \u00a0Food is wasted when you don&#8217;t eat or freeze what you&#8217;ve made.<\/li>\n<li>It is much easier to clean a refrigerator that is not overflowing with food, condiments, and beverages.<\/li>\n<li>I am thankful for the food I have. \u00a0That may sound odd, but if you have ever lived with scarcity, you know you appreciate what you have so much more. \u00a0I don&#8217;t take the food in my refrigerator for granted and am grateful for what it represents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Look in your refrigerator. \u00a0Are you constantly buying too much?
