How To Do a To Do List

The TO DO List

I’ve seen the to-do lists.  The scraps of paper scattered about the house.  The long never-ending lists that just grow and grow and feel overwhelming.  The lists that are so haphazard you have no idea where to begin so you just don’t.

Here is my solution for a better TO DO list:

1. Start with a brain dump.

Write down everything you know you need to do…..don’t edit, just keep writing in no order.

2.Divide that brain dump into categories.

Some examples would be:

Phone Calls

Use categories that make sense for you.

3.Prioritize and schedule.

You’ve heard it before, but I’ll say it again, what gets scheduled gets done.

On Sunday night, I go through this exact exercise to schedule my week.  Does everything on my To Do list get scheduled?  Nope.  I know I can’t do everything, but I can get the most higher priority items done.

I use the PLANNER PAD for my calendar to help keep my categories, prioritizing, and scheduling straight.

If you’d like to see what PLANNER PAD is about, just click on this link:

(I do make a few pennies if you click on the link, but there is no markup to you….at all!)

No matter what you use, keep your TO DO lists in one spot so you can move the things you weren’t able to get done to the next week, or maybe you just remove them if they no longer deserve a spot on your list.

With this TO DO list method, you will get more done and keep yourself organized while you are doing it!
